If you’re missing one or more teeth, it’s time to consider your tooth-replacement options. This is important because if you fail to replace your missing teeth, there is a chance you could suffer impacted self-esteem, the inhibited ability to chew and speak, and orthodontic issues. So, to help you know your options for preventing these issues and filling the gaps in your smile, Dr. Christopher Pavletic and our dental team are happy to tell you all about dentures, dental bridges, and dental implants.
Dentures are replacement teeth that you can have in your smile whenever you feel is necessary, which means they’re removable. There are two denture options to choose from, which are complete dentures and partial dentures. Complete dentures are made to replace all of your teeth, whether it’s the teeth in the upper jaw, lower jaw, or both, while partial dentures are made to fill a gap in your smile.
A dental bridge provides stable, dependable, and permanent results without surgical intervention. It anchors onto the neighboring teeth on both sides of the gap in your mouth and it replaces your teeth with strong, beautiful pearly whites. It is generally made of dental crowns on each side and one or more false teeth in the middle.
A dental implant also provides stable and permanent results. However, it does require surgical intervention. During treatment, Dr. Christopher Pavletic will place a small titanium post into the bone socket of the missing tooth and will cover that post with a dental crown. This can give you a natural-looking, natural-feeling, strong, and reliable replacement tooth. Please remember that this option requires recovery time.
As you can see, these three dental restorations are all great options for replacing your missing teeth.
